O Beautiful Boy

January 1, 2014

Oh Beautiful Boy of unbounded grace
Our all, our light, our brilliant shining star
Our love for you transcends all time and space
And comes to you, though you be near or far.
To everyone you met, you brought such light
Your smile, your joy, your love of life shone clear
And now, in midst of sorrow’s darkest night
Your cherished memories we hold most dear.
Too soon, our son, too soon we had to part
The reason for which we may never know
But know you live within my loving heart
Your light undimmed by time will always glow
And so, my dearest darling Boy, take flight
We’ll meet you once again when time is right.

Yesterday we buried our cherished son. A sea of people came to honor him. A cocoon of caring love enveloped us and buoyed our spirits for a time. Looking out upon that loving ocean, halos of the late afternoon sunlight glowing about their heads, we were truly humbled and deeply moved. Jake’s spirit hovered above and shone down upon all of us.

Thank you everyone for helping us keep Jake’s memory alive. If everyone brings as much light into this world as you can, it might just come close to the light that Jake brought all by himself.

About edcol52

The Infinite Fountain of Love and Loss flows unceasingly into the pool of memory and sorrow. I created this blog in response to the most dreadful tragedy every parent fears, the death of a child, our 24 year old son, Jake. We are now on an unimagined journey along this road of grief and recovery. If you can find some comfort within these pages, than I will have succeeded in some small measure.
